cryosurgery

The modern cryosurgery is a safe treatment of skin and mucous membrane changes using the probes that bring down the temperature to below 900C.

Freezing the bad tissue (of angiomas, fibromas, birthmarks, verrucas, cancers and others) destroys basic structures of the cells and leads to their necrosis. There is no possibility of spreading dead cells as they stop to exist and immediately healthy skin separates the dead tissue as a whole.
To be absolutely sure, the tissue is frozen in its healthy places so as not to leave any fragments of the damaged tissue. Repeated freezing facilitates the separation damaged tissue and its drying till the scab is created.
Each freezing treatment is preceded by the computer examination (the change is 25 times magnified and the risk is assessed). If a patient wants to have the examination done under a microscope, first the doctor takes one of the changes. It involves additional expenses for the patient.

Contrary to the old aunts' and good advisers' principle "don't touch strange things on your skin because it may be dangerous" cryosurgery guarantees the end of the desease at the moment of tissue freezing. This method is bloodless and practically painless (patients describe this as an "unpleasant tightening"), and what is most important there are no scars after the treatment.

When the skin is healed it is deprived of collagen, which means it is soft, and after 6-12 weeks later colour of the skin resembles the colour of the rest of the skin.
Some hours after the surgery has been carried out there may be a blister, then the change can exude and looks bad. It is when patients and their relatives are afraid that they underwent the operation unnecesarrily. The doctor, however, is confirmed that the process of treatment is correct. The amount of water in the frozen tissue, a place in the body, the patient's age and other factors decide about the amount of effusion. That is why doctors can seldom predict how frozen tissue will react while being treated.

Generally, all that happens with the change is correct. After the fourth week of the treatment a brown edge appears in the place of a small bright spot. It is a reservoir of the dye which fill the spot later. Patients usually have 3-5 appointments but treatment can last until they recognise the effects of the therapy to be satisfied.

Skin cancer is treated in other way, but effects are unfailing and satisfying as there are no skin distortions and scars are invisible. Skin cancer treatment always begins when the preliminary histopathological examination under a microscope is done.

What is important the healed changes must not be taken under the influence of sunrays for about.

3 months, otherwise bright small spots cannot disappear. If it is necessary to sunbathe these places should be covered with the suntan cream (UV 50-60). While being treated a patient does not need to apply a dressing or avoid water etc. Often baths (a bath or a swimming pool) are advisable after the operations.
